Everyone thinks they’re a mediator

Over my more than a decade in full-time private practice, I’ve run into tons of people who’ve told me “Oh, you mediate? I mediate too.” Everyone believes they mediate in some form in their families and workplaces. And they do.

As of today, even my MacBook is telling me that it’s a conflict resolver. If even my computer thinks they do what we mediators do, it’s no wonder the public doesn’t fully grasp that we offer, well, something more. It’s a good marketing challenge for you to consider when you put yourself out there as a mediator or other conflict resolver.

But my MacBook has something on us, for sure: It resolved this particular conflict in the single click of a button!
