Calling all current and would-be ADR bloggers: SOBcon08

March 14, 2008

Are you thinking about starting a blog as part of your mediation marketing strategy? Have you already begun blogging and want to increase traffic from your target market or learn how to make your blog better?

Then I hope I’ll see you at SOBcon08: Biz School for Bloggers, May 2-4 at The Summit Executive Center in the heart of Chicago’s Magnificent Mile. I attended SOBcon07, the conference’s inaugural year, and can tell you without reservation that it was the best conference I’ve attended. Ever. Of any type. [Read more]

Any ACR members who can help me?

January 3, 2008

help-pointUpdate: Thanks to Florida Mediator Perry Itkin, I now have a high-quality scan of the article. I’m grateful for your generous spirit, Perry!

I’m looking for a favor from any of you who are ACR members and receive ACResolution, the quarterly magazine.

I’m a current ACR member myself, but the fall issue of the magazine never reached me. I’d normally be disappointed to miss an issue, but this time around I’m really disappointed, because there’s an article of mine in there. I’m told it’s hit the stands, so to speak, but haven’t had a chance to see my own article yet.

Many of you know that ACR moved office locations a few weeks ago and their email apparently hasn’t been working for a while. The phone system also doesn’t seem to be working, since their main phone number just rings and rings without anyone picking up or my calls going to voicemail. [Read more]

My holiday gift to fellow mediators

December 16, 2007

gift to fellow mediatorsOn Christmas morning for the past 18 years, my husband Rod and I have listened to a story written and recorded years ago by radio broadcaster John Henry Faulk.

We’re not big on the shop-til-you-drop approach to the holidays, and it’s one of the reasons we’re so moved by Faulk’s story of real giving in the Christmas season.

To listen to the author’s 1974 recording, click here (if the link doesn’t work on your computer, click on the Faulk link above and you’ll see options to stream in either RealAudio or Windows Audio). [Read more]

Learn how to start a mediation marketing blog

December 7, 2007

building buzz with blogsEarlier this year, I teamed up with my friend, mediation colleague, and ADR blogger extraordinaire Diane Levin to produce a 5-part audio program for mediators, Building Buzz with Blogs.

The audio program was recorded in five 1-hour segments during live teleseminars attended by mediators from throughout the U.S.

Diane and I’ve agreed it’s a great time now to bundle the five audio programs into a single package for you at $28.00 U.S.

Learn more and grab your 5-hour mediation blog marketing audio series here. [Read more]

Fellow Mediators, Help Promote Respectful Communication Online

July 31, 2007

respect-pledgeIf you read ACResolution, ACR’s quarterly magazine, then you may already know about RespectPledge.org, a creation of the National Center for Technology and Dispute Resolution at UMass-Amherst.

The genesis of RespectPledge was a series of frightening, anonymous threats made to prominent blogger Kathy Sierra, which ultimately left her living in so much fear she stopped blogging and may never return. Kathy’s awful experience was the fodder for much debate and conversation in cyberspace, with an outcry of support for her and an equally loud outcry about the cowardice and human failings of her threatener.

Now, in his most recent ACResolution column, Colin Rule discusses a new resolution adopted unanimously at the 5th International Forum on Online Dispute Resolution [Read more]
