Making Mediation Your Day Job™ Part 6: Getting Started with an ADR Blog
November 28, 2006 ·

If you’ve decided that blogging should be part of your marketing strategy, then this chapter’s for you. Before diving in, I want to say a bit more about what this section of the blook will and won’t include.
There’s a wealth of top-notch, excellent writing and guidance on marketing and blogging from professionals outside the ADR field. Some of them are big names familiar to many, and some of them are quieter pros simply doing excellent work and making it available in a variety of forms for consumers like you and me. You should read and listen to their work because they deserve the credit for their ideas and hard work. I do them, you and me a disservice if I simply try to adapt those good works for my own use here.
In that spirit, the final print version of this book will be accompanied by my insider’s guide to the best consultants, coaches, books and blogs for depth of knowledge. I’ll also offer an abbreviated version of that guide here on Mediator Tech once I’ve completed posting some of the remaining sections of the blook. I anticipate that you may, over the course of reading the blook, identify some specific topics or areas in which you’d like more depth of knowledge, and I’ve got a terrific list of some of the best folks out there. Suzanne, Pam, Mike, Liz, Andy, Michael…you’ll learn more about these amazing professionals and many others a bit later. They’re the folks I refer mediators to when they want the best of the best for building specific parts of their business.
What will this section of the blook do for you? By the end of the chapter, if you’ve followed each of the steps I’ve outlined, you’ll have done the following:
- Chosen a name for your ADR blog.
- Chosen and registered one or more domain names (your website address).
- Selected a host for your domain (where your website will live).
- Completed the steps to set up your blog using the blogging software (“platform”) I recommend and use, WordPress.
